2025 Walpole in the Trees Regatta

The Walpole in the Trees Regatta for the Optimist class showcased thrilling racing on the picturesque Nornalup Inlet, with sailors enjoying ideal 8–12 knot southeast winds. Competitors from as far as Perth and Esperance gathered for the event, creating a highly competitive fleet.

With steady breezes and smooth waters, the regatta saw exceptionally close racing, as sailors pushed their boats to the limit. Tactical decision-making and boat handling were key, with tight mark roundings and frequent position changes keeping spectators engaged from the WOW Wilderness Eco - tour cruise and other vessels. 

The challenging yet fair condtions allowed younger sailors to test their skills against seasoned competitors making for an exciting contest.

Despite the intensity of the competition, sportsmanship remained a highlight, with sailors displaying comaraderie both on and off the water.

The well organised event, set against the stunning natural backdrop of Walpoles towering trees, provided an unforgettable experience for all involved.

As the regatta concluded, competitors left with valuable experience, friendships and anticipation for next years event, which promises to deliver another thrilling chapter in Western Australia's junior sailing scene.
